Lyrics

Rocks In The Road (Robert Kerr)

I was thinking of a time way back when

Yes we thought we knew it all

Wouldn't listen to a word they said

We were heading for a fall

Now maybe time has given us a wiser head

So we think we know it all

But our sons and daughters they forgot the words we said

They say we're heading for a fall

So I say...

If you build your house out of straw

If you build your life on false hope

If you like to keep pushing at an open door

You're gonna come undone, one day you’ll come undone

Cos there are rocks in the road (rocks in the road)

There are rocks in the road (rocks in the road)

There are rocks in the road - and they're gonna bring you down

They're gonna bring you down, my darling

Gonna bring you down, my sweet young thing

They're gonna bring you down

I met a man who thought he had it all

There was a dark sad look in his eyes

He told me he had lost everything he owned

It was the last throw of the dice, last desperate throw of the dice

So I say...

If you build your house out of straw

If you build your life on false hope

If you like to keep pushing at an open door

You're gonna come undone, some day you’ll come undone

Cos there are rocks in the road (rocks in the road)

There are rocks in the road (rocks in the road)

There are rocks in the road and they're gonna bring you down

They're gonna bring you down

Cos there are rocks in the road (rocks in the road/ my darling)

There are rocks in the road (rocks in the road/my sweet young thing)

There are rocks in the road and they're gonna bring you down

Cos there are rocks in the road (rocks in the road/ my darling)

There are rocks in the road (rocks in the road/my sweet young thing)

There are rocks in the road and they're gonna bring you down

They're gonna bring you down, my darling

Gonna bring you down, my sweet young thing

They're gonna bring you down

Blue Sky (Robert Kerr; Jem Coombes)

First thing in the morning

And no one on the road

Sun is rising, it's a perfect time

To get some black top under my wheels

Blue sky up ahead of me

Grey clouds far behind

I got a tank full of gas

And a perfect state of mind

I got my Ray-Bans on

And the roof pulled down

Sun in my eyes, wind in my hair

It's a California feeling all day long

Country music on the radio

My girl she sings along

Cruising on the highway at fifty-five

Playing our favourite song

Let's pull into Buck Meadows

And get ourselves some food

Coffee and a stack

And then we'll hit the road

I got my Ray-Bans on

And the roof pulled down

Sun in my eyes, wind in my hair

It's a California feeling all day long

Long Way Home (Robert Kerr)

I've seen a million faces - a million I don’t know

Been to a thousand places  - a thousand I don’t know

Been around this great big world at least a hundred times

But baby there's only one thing, one thing on my mind

It’s a long, long way back home

It’s a long, long way back home

I've seen beauty I've seen pain

Things I never, never want to see again

I've climbed the highest mountain just to see

Just to see I had the whole world right in front of me

I've read the lies I've heard the truth

I believe in love to see you through

But there's something I never, never understood

Why can't we forget the bad and embrace the good?

It’s a long, long way back home (but I'm coming home soon)

It’s a long, long way back home

I've seen a million faces - yes I have

Been to a thousand places - yes I have

Been around this great big world at least a hundred times

But baby there's only one thing, one thing on my mind

It’s a long, long way back home (but I'm coming home soon)

It’s a long, long way back home (and I'm coming back to you)

It’s a long way back home

Broken Dreams (Robert Kerr)

Remember the pain

You felt the pain

Remember the feeling you get

Walking to an empty room

Taking your hand

Together we stand

Out on an empty beach

Looking at a distant land

Where will we be in years to come?

Will we even know each other?

Where will we be in years to come?

Will we be just friends or maybe lovers – maybe lovers?

Looking at you

Your arms reach the sky

Look at the smile on your face

The sun shining in your eyes

All our broken dreams

Nothing as it seems

You were my fantasy

No-one said that love was easy

Where will we be in years to come?

Will we even know each other?

Where will we be in years to come?

Will we be just friends or maybe lovers, maybe lovers, maybe lovers, maybe lovers?

Remember the pain

You felt the pain

Remember the feeling you get

Walking to an empty room
